When ponytails flirted with duck tails and wax was not only put on cars.
When songs dedicated to Peggy Sue, Paula, Little Susie, and Long Tall Sally played loudly on radios in cars with fins and there was only one type of Coca-Cola.
When girls in poodle skirts danced with boys in rolled-up jeans and white tees.
A more innocent time. And a time much less aware of the true nature and scope of mental illness, as well as its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
This event is the annual fundraiser for the San Antonio Clubhouse, our community’s gathering place for adults with mental illness. At SA Clubhouse, individuals who too often fall through the cracks of society can gather with others coping with similar issues. They work collaboratively to create their own community of members, as they work individually to build skills that will better equip them to participate in the bigger world. For most, SA Clubhouse is their only channel to becoming an integrated member of society. The mission of SA Clubhouse is not one of mercy, but one of recognizing the talents in others, then empowering the sharing of those talents to the fullest extent.
Won’t you join us in this cause on Saturday, October 26th @ 6:30PM?
